The Baton Rouge Area offers a blend of southern charm, affordable living, and diverse job opportunities, all set against a backdrop of rich cultural traditions and beautiful natural surroundings. I am a graduate of Walker High School in Livingston Parish; I have been in the Baton Rouge Area my entire life. While I have traveled, I have always called this place home! I love the sweet southern hospitality that is found here, and how there is always a strong sense of family and small-town love in all the surrounding communities. That is something I loved growing up and knew I wanted to raise a family in.

I have a close-knit group of friends I have been close with for over twenty years. We are now raising our kids together and our husbands are all friends; it’s something I feel like you read about in books or see in movies, but I’m blessed to say I have these friendships and live it everyday. I have that small town culture to thank for nourishing these friendships and helping us build them into what they are today.

Last year, I served alongside other business owners and community leaders on the Fork Cancer Committee, where we proudly raised money in the Baton Rouge Area in the fight against cancer.

Building Business in BTR

Building a business in the Baton Rouge area is a rewarding experience. The city and all its surrounding areas are beaming with fun, creativity, and always so welcoming of new businesses. To help accelerate my business, JM Boutique, I relied heavily on social media, networking and word of mouth. Coming back to the culture of the Baton Rouge area, locals want to support locals. So, it was important to get the word out and network the business. Baton Rouge offers so many great opportunities for networking and helping grow businesses.

I am a member of Bethany Church, my family and I attend the Livingston Parish campus. I have many friends throughout the community who are also fellow business owners, and we are also members of the Livingston Parish Chamber.

BTR Weekends

To kick off my weekend I would start my Friday night off with dinner, of course. I am local to the Watson area so on any given night you can find my family and I at Casa Maria! After we would likely grab a movie with the kids or enjoy live music. Saturday is a perfect day for brunch! We love brunch at STABS in Central, after, we are definitely catching a baseball game, if our kids aren’t playing you can catch us supporting Live Oak High School or enjoying a game at LSU!

Depending on the time of the year we love to enjoy ice skating at the Raising Canes River Center and while downtown, stroll the levee.

Sunday, we will be at church after is always lunch and then family time! A good Sunday afternoon fishing at the pond is the perfect weekend ending for us.

Baton Rouge, Livingston, and its surrounding areas provide a mix of urban convenience, affordability, rich culture, and strong community ties that can be appealing for anyone seeking a balance between a relaxed lifestyle and access to professional opportunities.

Baton Rouge is not just where I live; it is where I believe, belong, and become! And that is why I love it here.
